This cabinet specimen is remarkable because it is comprised of fluorite crystals that are predominantly dodecahedral - great dodecahedral fluorite crystals are not common. These crystals are sharp, very lustrous and transparent, and under good light, one sees small rainbow-ilke flashes deep with in them. Although they appear colourless and essentially they are, they seem to have the faintest lilac tint, when viewed at certain angles in certain light. The dodecahedra are modified by cube faces at the corners. In excellent condition, no damage except incomplete crystals around the periphery and back/underneath (depending on how oriented) where this was removed from the surrounding rock.

This piece is a plate that is mounded in the middle, so it displays nicely propped up from behind as in the first photo, and also lying naturally without support.

A great dodecahedral fluorite.
