Detailed Description

This is a great display specimen of howlite. The 1.8 cm group of radiating crystals is perched on top of a plate of anhydrite, and stands above it with good relief. The howlite crystals are sharp lustrous. In excellent condition, a few missing crystals on close inspection. This piece has particularly good overall aesthetics, with the "pinwheel" look and set so nicely on the anhydrite.

About These Howlites

The howlite crystals from Bras D’Or Lake, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia are the best known – to date, this is the world's only locality to produce howlite crystals, other than a California locality with microscopic ones.

This place can be a little rough... which is a very good thing in some ways, and less so in others!
