Detalied Description

This specimen is all about the superb sharp, lustrous, deep blue crystals of lazulite across the top - they are large, up to 1.4 cm. Under good lighting, the crystals include internal glints of various hues of dark blue, including a vibrant one at the top-centre of the piece. There are a few greenish glints also. In excellent condition, the main large crystal is perfect and others are as well, while there is some minor chipping. The specimen has areas of lighter blue incomplete crystals that appear damaged but most show recrystallized surfaces, indicating that these features developed naturally. Stands perfectly for display as photographed. These are beautiful, impressive lazulite crystals!

About these Lazulites

Discovered in the 1970s, the occurrences at Rapid Creek have become known as among the best localities in the world for lazulite. These occurrences are very remote and the costs are high, so specimen collection efforts are few and far between, and it is hard to obtain fine specimens. These fine lazulites are from a recent find, in 2015.
