From the famous find in 1972, this tourmaline crystal has a super, complex termination. The crystal is the iconic aqua green colour for Dunton tourmaline. Prism faces are mostly absent and those present are highly oscillatory. In excellent condition, some edge chipping, insignificant from the primary viewing angle (as in the first photo). A Maine […]

This is a superb deep green tourmaline crystal from the Little Three Mine. The green colour is zoned, with the lightest and most translucent zone at the termination, and darker zones lower within the crystal. The crystal is sharp with beautiful subtle growth hillocks on the termination – with magnification, you can see trigonal pyramidal […]

A dark green tourmaline with lustrous, striated prism faces and a flat pinacoidal termination. The green colour is zoned internally, with the darkest and least translucent near the termination and more green and translucent beginning about 1 cm from the termination. It looks almost black in modest lighting, and colour comes through with any amount […]

A very dark elbaite crystal with particularly lustrous termination. This crystal has clearly had an interesting history. Sometime after it crystallized, it broke across the crystal and then it re-healed. The healing was almost complete on one side, in the middle the gap was bridged by needle-sized new crystal growth and remains open on the […]

Two sharp schorl crystals in matrix from the old New Hampshire locality, the Rice Mine. This locality dates to the late nineteenth century and fine specimens from here are hard to obtain. These schorl crystals are sharp with good lustre. From the main viewing angle, they are in very condition overall – some chipping is […]

A beautiful crystal of black tourmaline. This schorl crystal is sharp and the striated prism faces have great lustre. The termination is comprised of the forms {10-11} and {01-12}. In excellent condition, no damage (except to one edge of a prism face, which is at the back and out of view as displayed). From the […]

A beautiful doubly-terminated crystal of elbaite (tourmaline), variety rubellite from the Himalaya Mine. This crystal is sharp and lustrous, with colour zoning from a fine medium pink to a darker burgundy. The crystal is actually a parallel growth, with two crystals visible at one end, giving the overall shape a more flattened appearance than is […]

Detailed Description Fluor-uvite is an uncommon tourmaline group species, and this is a fine specimen. From the classic locality near Richville, New York, this piece hosts several crystals of fluor-uvite. As is typical of this locality, not all the crystals had room to fully develop. The main crystal is in fact doubly-terminated – it also […]

A beautiful green elbaite crystal from the Bennett Quarry. It is sharp with lustrous, striated prism faces and a simple termination. The colour is internally zoned, from a cooler hue of slightly aqua-green near the termination, transitioning to a warmer green lower down. There is minor quartz on part of the termination. In excellent condition […]

Sharp black tourmaline crystals in quartz from Colorado. These crystals have excellent lustre all around, and nice contrast with the matrix. In excellent condition, one tiny chip on the main crystal and a couple of incomplete crystals lower on the piece. From the Pete Richards collection, he collected this piece from a quartz ledge he […]
