This miniature is a little stunner – “green glass”. The hue is a nice mid tone green at the base and has very slightly more blue tint at the termination. Wonderful striated parallel growth tourmaline. Transparent, lustrous – a truly beautiful crystal from a world famous, classic tourmaline locality.

A gorgeous gem tourmaline crystal with a particularly vivid green colour. The 1.7 cm crystal has an exquisite termination with two orders of pyramidal faces. From the Pete Richards collection, acquired on July 29, 1997. An absolute beauty! About Pete Richards (click here)

This specimen features light green diopside crystals on matrix from the classic locality, DeKalb, St. Lawrence Co. The crystals have particularly sharp and glassy prism faces, and the main crystal has good transparency at one end. From the Pete Richards collection, he collected the piece in July, 1982. An excellent DeKalb diopside. About Pete Richards […]

The fluorapatites from Ipirá are the most amazing hue of blue – when strongly lit or backlit they can look otherworldly. Unfortunately, they are often rounded and always damaged – I’ve looked through hundreds and it is almost impossible to find fine specimens! It’s exasperating. Look at even the published photographs of Ipira fluorapatites – […]

If you could imagine your ideal miniature tabular aquamarine specimen, I’m not sure what it would look like. Mine looks something like this one! This is an amazing crystal, perched perfectly with a little matrix of albite and muscovite. The aquamarine is in perfect condition and has wonderful crystal faces. It is terminated on the […]

The central crystal in this group of pale smoky quartz crystals hosts an awesome deep purple amethyst phantom. This locality has produced relatively small numbers of truly fine specimens. (In Brazil, in 2005 – which was around the time the best ones came out – I was offered a garbage bag containing maybe 75 of […]

Brilliant, water clear doubly-terminated quartz crystal with a smaller secondary crystal. The termination on main crystal is beautiful. Although this specimen may appear entirely colourless, to my eye it has the faintest of smoky tints. Looking through the front of the larger crystal at the backside intersection of the two crystals, there is a beautiful […]

Detailed Description This is a great size for one of these, especially of this quality. Five primary pale golden selenite twins radiate from the central ball of tightly compacted selenite blades. These twins are transparent with some wispy inclusions and internal cleavage planes all of which pick up the display lights nicely. Among other cool […]

This crystal is colour-zoned, with purple as the most dominating colour, combining with an extremely pale blue. The crystal measures 1.9cm across, is as lustrous as apatite gets, and has the internal fracturing and resulting play of light that was typical of this find. This specimen is of exceptional quality for these. There is a […]

Radiating flower of delicately coloured quartz, ranging from pale lilac amethyst to clear quartz perched on top of a second smaller flower. The lower flower is quite three dimensional and has a cool folded appearance from the side or back of the specimen (a small piece of matrix material is visible at the back of […]

Large single barite crystal with several small sharp additional crystals intergrown alongside. With great lustre and total freedom from any damage at all from the front, this is a really nice specimen. What is most striking about it is that it has strange preferential zoning – very cool. It appears as though during the growth […]

The crystals on this specimen are slightly smoky-coloured, clear and glassy, with some frosting and satiny finish on the back side. The largest crystal measures 3.9 x 2.0 x 1.3 cm. These crystals show additional crystal forms not evident on many of the specimens from the find – really nice! The crystals are perfectly undamaged […]
