Fluorapatite

Specimen # 100045
Mineral: Fluorapatite
Location: Golconda Mine, Coroaci, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size: 4.0 x 3.2 x 2.0 cm

Description

This crystal is colour-zoned, with purple as the most dominating colour, combining with an extremely pale blue. The crystal measures 1.9cm across, is as lustrous as apatite gets, and has the internal fracturing and resulting play of light that was typical of this find. This specimen is of exceptional quality for these. There is a small chip (ca 1.5mm) on the upper left (as I would display it myself) of the one face this crystal – it was not really coming through in the photographs until I rotated it to specifically show it (see the fifth photo).

Wonderful miniature of sharp, glassy purple fluorapatite!
