Fluorite

Specimen # 100795
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Huanggang Mines, Hexigten Banner, Ulanhad, Inner Mongolia A.R., China
Size: 9.3 x 6.6 x 6.4 cm

Description

Brilliant water-clear fluorite crystals to 1.1 cm sparkle over the cream-coloured calcite crystals that make up the base of this specimen. These fluorites are stunning – like the isometric, fluorite-version of a Herkimer diamond. The crystals are sharp and glassy, with cubic, octahedral and dodecahedral forms. in exceptional condition – no damage except chipping on the crystal at the far lower tip of the matrix. (With magnification, you can see that certain features on these crystals are like etch-patterns, or evidence an event that completed before the end of the crystallization process, as their surfaces are crystallized.)

The central fluorite on this specimen is awesome.
