Description

Detailed Description

This beautiful specimen is a cluster of hematite roses, all oriented edge-on. This one has brilliant lustre, the best in this group of specimens – these crystal edges are mirror bright. This piece has great aesthetic form, a bit of relief (3-D) and some beautiful reddish micro crystals of quartz as an accent. In excellent condition – a couple of tiny nicks you can find if you search with a hand lens, and a few contacts around the periphery where the specimen was removed from the surrounding rock.  A great French hematite from an unusual locality.

About these Hematites

These fine hematite specimens were excavated from a deposit in the hills extremely close to the town of Saint-Marie-aux-Mines.
