Description

Detailed Description

This is a very aesthetic piece – it is a plate of crystals featuring edge-on hematite clusters dusted with reddish microcrystals of quartz. The hematite crystals are sharp and lustrous. In excellent condition, one rubbed spot is visible if you search for it with a loupe, and a few incomplete crystals at the outer periphery where this was attached. A particularly handsome specimen.

About These Hematites

These fine hematite specimens were excavated from a deposit in the hills extremely close to the town of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. The deposit was worked in the 1970s and 1980s, and these specimens date back to those workings.
