Chabazite, Stilbite

Specimen # 200128
Mineral: Chabazite, Stilbite
Location: Roadcut at Bavdhan, Pune District, Maharashtra, India
Size: 6.2 x 5.2 x 4.1 cm

Description

This is a fantastic specimen, with sharp, lustrous chabazite perched on stilbite crystals. The chabazite is a cream, off-white hue, and is transluscent with small transparent areas. There is a penetration twin on one side of the chabazite. In excellent condition, no damage. Chabazite is relatively rare from the Deccan Traps in India. It has been found at several localities, but is often not remarkable. This small road cut find was amazing. This specimen is perhaps the best, most aesthetic chabazite I have ever seen from India. Supported to stand as in the first photo, it jumps out from the cabinet – an absolute screamer.
