Analcime

Specimen # 101158
Mineral: Analcime
Location: Analcime, Five Islands, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
Size: 5.8 x 3.2 x 2.2 cm

Description

Occasionally we see analcime crystals from Five Islands that are sharp, sparkly and gemmy, to the extent that some people have likened them to pale-coloured grossular from the Jeffrey Quarry (Asbestos, Quebec). Of course they are the same trapezohedral crystal form. This one, collected in 2009, is one of those pieces – the analcime crystals are glassy and bright under the display lights, just beautiful. In excellent condition – no damage except a few missing crystals on the outer periphery. This is a very classy analcime specimen.
