Analcime, Natrolite

Specimen # 101493
Mineral: Analcime, Natrolite
Location: Analcime, Five Islands, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
Size: 7.9 x 5.0 x 1.6 cm

Description

This plate features sparkling analcime crystals to 1.5 cm. These analcime crystals are sharp, glassy and essentially colourless, with some minor inclusions giving a faint reddish-orange hue in places. At the upper right, there are sharp natrolite crystals to 1 cm in length, with lustrous pyramidal terminations. In excellent condition, no damage except the larger analcime crystal has a contact on the front (the contact is not lustrous and angles forward but slightly downward when the plate is oriented for display as photographed). Collected in 2009. Nice translucent, lustrous analcime crystals on this one.
