Description

Detailed Description

This is a group of beautiful andradite crystals up to 1.7 cm, associated with small epidote crystals. The crystals of both minerals are sharp and lustrous. The andradtie crystals are very dark in appearance, and under strong light they are deep red with a little interal green colour as well. In excellent condition. No damage to the andradites (one at far left has a slightly tapered growth texture at the outside left corner) and one incomplete epidote at the right side where this was attached to the host rock. A great, aesthetic combination of these two minerals.

About these Andradites

These andradites come from a mountainous border region of Afghanistan near Pakistan. It is an area that has been quite dangerous and sometimes inaccessible in recent times. The first specimens from the Spin Ghar range became known in the late 1980s and sporadic finds have been made since then.
