Azurite

Specimen # 100020
Mineral: Azurite
Location: Tsumeb Mine, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
Size: 5.2 x 3.4 x 2.0 cm

Description

This is an exceptional quality Tsumeb azurite, as I hope comes through in the photographs – it is virtually pristine. The parallel growth cluster of azurite crystals is deep dark blue – if lit at a distance in a display case it will look nearly black, but viewed under good strong lighting the blue is gorgeous. The crystals are super sharp and as lustrous as azurite gets.  This beautiful miniature was formerly in the collection of Canadian collector Gil Benoit.
