Azurite

Specimen # 200701
Mineral: Azurite
Location: Tsumeb Mine, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
Size: 5.2 x 4.2 x 3.6 cm

Description

This is an outstanding Tsumeb azurite. A cluster of steeply-terminated crystals nestled perfectly on the matrix. The crystals are a gorgeous deep azure-blue – under strong light, the intense colour is seen in the outer areas of the large crystal, while the smaller crystals appear to be fully translucent-to-transparent. These azurite crystals are sharp with top lustre. There are small surface growths of malachite in association.

From the Gerald Panneton collection. In excellent condition, virtually pristine (under magnification, a couple of rubs are visible). A killer Tsumeb azurite!
