Barite

Specimen # 100678
Mineral: Barite
Location: Djebel Ouichane, Sagangane, Nador, Morocco
Size: 10.7 x 7.0 x 6.5 cm

Description

This is a gorgeous, top-level blue barite. A thick group of horizontal crystals measuring 10.7 cm hosts clusters of slightly diverging lustrous crystals emerging from the top. The terminations of the upright crystals are flat, and the horizontal crystals are a bit steeper. Beautiful lustre from various angles – a myriad of gleaming faces. Miraculously, there is no damage – these crystals are pristine. At the front underside, there is an incomplete barite where this specimen was attached, and around the back of the piece and underneath there are incomplete crystals, again where it was originally attached. The last photo shows a view from the top and slightly behind, compared to the others. An exceptional cabinet specimen!
