Barite

Specimen # 100681
Mineral: Barite
Location: Barite, Sidi Lahcen Mine, Djebel Ouichane, Nador, Morocco
Size: 7.5 x 3.3 x 2.8 cm

Description

This is an elegant group of curved, parallel blue barite crystals. The blue is darker than most Sidi Lahcen barites – it’s a smoky blue, really nice. In the last photo I cut most of the reflections to give a better sense of the colour in the horizontal orientation. This piece has lustrous faces, particularly at the tips. At first glance, the lustre along the length of the crystals appears silky from certain angles, but actually these sides are comprised of seemingly countless tiny lustrous faces as well. In perfect condition, no damage. Shows well oriented either veritcally (it needs support that way) or horizontally.

A beautiful, distinctive, classy piece.
