Specimen # 200054
Mineral: Beryl, var. Alkali Beryl
Location: Beryl, Deo Darrah, Khash & Kura Wa Munjan Districts, Badakshan, Afghanistan
Size: 3.2 x 2.1 x 1.6 cm

Description

A group of interlocking crystals of alkali beryl with distinct colour zoning from this unique occurrence. The central blue band is dark blue. These crystals come to a termination with nearly fibrous-habit tiny crystal ends. In very good condition, the specimen looks great as displayed. On examination with maginfication, most of the tiny near-fibrous ends are incomplete as is typical with this find. This is a rare variety of blue beryl with fine colour.
