Beryl var. Aquamarine

Specimen # 100527
Mineral: Beryl var. Aquamarine
Location: Medina, Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size: 5.5 x 4.1 x 3.8 cm

Description

This is a beautiful classic Medina aquamarine. It is doubly-terminated and well formed, with natural etching features all over, and some wonderful etch hollows inside the crystal. In particular, one set of these internal features is arranged in a stack of clear hexagonal plate-like hollows – really great on examination under the lights.

This specimen is in excellent condition, and the shape inconsistencies are due to the etching, not damage. Small chipping in a spot of the etched area (looks like an etching feature), and the termination is super, with one chip about 0.5mm – no issue. Excellent modification faces around the termination of the crystal. To top it off, there are embedded terminated muscovite crystals in the etched areas of the aquamarine.

This is a super piece!
