Brochantite

Specimen # 101253
Mineral: Brochantite
Location: Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Mun. de Santa Cruz, Sonora, Mexico
Size: 5.8 x 3.2 x 1.8 cm

Description

This is a superb plate of brochantite crystals. At the top (as I would display it, supported) is a cluster of sharp, lustrous crystals with green highlights, and at the bottom, the crystals isolated on matrix stand out with great contrast. The isolated ones include a 1.2 cm doubly-terminated parallel growth crystal. In exceptional condition – no damage visible without very close inspection, and all I can find with the loupe are a couple of tiny peripheral incomplete crystals and one inconspicuous rub. For its aesthetics and its condition, this is a remarkable brochantite specimen.
