Calcite

Specimen # 100701
Mineral: Calcite
Location: Verchniy Mine, Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
Size: 5.1 x 4.9 x 4.5 cm

Description

This one is an absolute jewel. A group of sharp, lustrous parallel growth calcite crystals is perched on crystals of quartz, accompanied by tiny sparkly black ilvaite crystals. The quality of these calcite crystals is astounding – they are perfect to the eye (you need magnification to search out minute rubbing). The calcite crystals are transparent and water clear at the terminations. The beautiful crystal faces at the terminations are brilliant, and internally there is beautiful play of light, with prism/rainbow type colour and sparkle. The piece stands perfectly on its own as photographed in the first photo, or could be displayed as in the latter photos. It’s a gem either way!
