Calcite, Fluorite

Specimen # 200140
Mineral: Calcite, Fluorite
Location: Fluorite, Xianghualing Mine, Linwu Co., Chenzhou, Hunan, China
Size: 6.4 x 5.7 x 3.0 cm

Description

This is a gorgeous cluster of calcite crystals, like a large flower bloom, on fluorite. There are actually two generations of calcite – a few second-generation crystals fluoresce bright orange under ultraviolet light and jump out (as you can see in the UV light photo, which is a combined long-, medium- and short-wave ultraviolet). The fluorite fluoresces a strong violet-blue. In excellent condition, no damage to the calcite or the two complete fluorite crystals, while there are incomplete fluorite crystals at the edges where this was originally attached. Displays particularly beautifully supported to stand as in the photos – a highly aesthetic specimen!
