Chabazite

Specimen # 100654
Mineral: Chabazite
Location: Wasson's Bluff, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
Size: 4.5 x 4.3 x 2.4 cm

Description

This is a group of unusually glossy chabazite crystals to 1.5 cm. These are highly lustrous penetration twins with beautiful surface growth patterns. The colour within these crystals varies a bit, on closer inspection – there are small zones that are almost colourless, while the overall colour is a brownish pink. In excellent condition, some minor damage at parts of the periphery where this was removed from the rock.  From the collection of well-known Nova Scotia collector Terry Collett, collected on April 1, 2009 (yes, an April Fool’s chabazite, but this description is accurate). Great miniature at a great price.
