Chrysoberyl, Muscovite

Specimen # 101451
Mineral: Chrysoberyl, Muscovite
Location: Chrysoberyl (Twinned) on Muscovite, Rio das Pratinhas, Arataca, Bahia, Brazil
Size: 3.1 x 2.5 x 0.5 cm

Description

This is a great specimen. The contact-twinned crystals of light green chrysoberyl are intergrown with a section of a muscovite crystal, so that the muscovite crystal forms half of the specimen and the chrysoberyl crystals are where the rest of the muscovite cross-section would have been. The chrysoberyl crystals are sharp and lustrous. In excellent condition – one tiny chip on a front edge, and a small one one on a back edge (anything else you see in the photos is internal to the crystal, and in the middle there is a bit of a recessed area, all crytallized). Ex John White.

A super twinned chrysoberyl, aesthetic and unique, the way it balances with the muscovite.
