Chrysocolla

Specimen # 103092
Mineral: Chrysocolla
Location: Planet Mine, Planet, Buckskin Mtns., La Paz Co., Arizona, USA
Size: 7.3 x 4.8 x 1.8 cm

Description

A wonderful chrysocolla specimen – bluish-green balls on a black matrix, providing killer contrast. In excellent condition.

If you examine with a loupe, right at the bottom (as photographed) there are three little balls that have been bisected – the cross-section shows that the original chrysocolla growth was very blue, and subsequent layers are a more bluish-green. If you then look around the specimen under magnification, sure enough, there are smaller balls with more of the blue, and the larger the balls, the more greenish hue.

This is a great Planet Mine chrysocolla!

Please Note: the colour representation in the still photographs has been carefully calibrated and adjusted to show an accurate rendition of this specimen in daylight (shade). The colours in the video are not similarly adjusted.
