About These Navidad Mine Creedites

For a short period of time ending in 2009, fluorite production and then a specimen mining project at the Navidad Mine in Durango, Mexico produced large numbers of some of the best creedites ever found anywhere. Although many of the specimens were quite damaged, small numbers of excellent ones were preserved. This specimen is from a lot that represents an effort over a period of three years to acquire high quality, nicely- proportioned specimens from the find. There is some great subtle variety among them. Prior to this find, it was a challenge to add a fine creedite tor a collection. Now that this production is over, it seems unlikely it will become easier to acquire truly fine specimens.
