Datolite

Specimen # 100367
Mineral: Datolite
Location: Charcas, Mun. de Charcas, San Luis Potosí, Mexico
Size: 6.0 x 5.5 x 3.1 cm

Description

This one is a bit different – it features one main datolite, a parallel-growth crystal measuring 3.5 cm. These datolites change colour depending non your light source – in actual daylight (shade) this crystal is an extremely pale ice blue, but under warmer light sources it looks pale green. The crystal is exceptionally sharp and lustrous. One corner has a small nick – not distracting, and my preferred angle for displaying this one angles that out to the side and away from the front anyway. Otherwise the main crystal is perfect. There is damage around the periphery where the specimen was removed. This main crystal is just a super datolite crystal.
