Elbaite Tourmaline, Albite

Specimen # 100564
Mineral: Elbaite Tourmaline, Albite
Location: Stak Nala, Gilgit-Skardu Road, Northern Areas, Pakistan
Size: 4.1 x 3.8 x 3.0 cm

Description

A beautiful elbaite tourmaline crystal, special for three reasons: (1) it has a beautiful termination, (2) upon close inspection, it has two internal phantoms, one extremely dark, the next an olive green, capped by a super green zone by the termination, and (3) the elbaite crystal is enclosed in a group of sharp, glassy albite crystals, which are wonderful in their own right but also provide the natural white background to showcase the crystal’s colour and phantoms. The albites on this one are so nice that I would characterize it equally as a fine albite specimen.

In excellent condition – no damage to the main elbaite toumaline and the albites are super (the main elbaite is not terminated underneath, where it was removed from the rock, and the smaller second elbaite is incomplete). Sits perfectly for display as photographed. A sharp, classy piece!
