Elbaite Tourmaline, Albite

Specimen # 102078
Mineral: Elbaite Tourmaline, Albite
Location: Elbaite Tourmaline, Stak Nala, Gilgit-Skardu Road, Northern Areas, Pakistan
Size: 6.8 x 5.8 x 3.8 cm

Description

This beautiful cabinet specimen features four elbaite crystals on albite. The elbaite crystals are sharp and lustrous, with good colour-zoning. The terminations are particularly nice on these crystals, with three bright, glassy, transparent faces (through which you can see some pink colouring) and three frosted faces. An interesting note, these crystals look great under ultraviolet light – presumably due to microscopic inclusions. In excellent condition – I see only one very tiny chip at the outside edge of the large crystal (you have to look for it) and that’s it – amazing quality. This piece is ex Cal Graeber –  a great Stak Nala tourmaline.
