Specimen # 100975
Mineral: Enargite
Location: Enargite, Quiruvilca Mine, Santiago de Chuco Province, La Libertad Department, Peru
Size: 5.1 x 4.2 x 3.1 cm

Description

This cluster of enargite crystals has superb lustre and sharpness. The enargite crystals are dark in colour, and flash brilliant faces under the lights. The largest enargite crystal meausres 2.4 cm, and one side of the specimen includes minor associated calcite dusting some crystal faces. Although enargite is considered a relatively common mineral, fine crystals are surprisingly hard to obtain. This one is from Quiruvilca, the locality which has produced some of the world’s best enargites. In excellent condition, there is minor chipping at the lower corner of the largest crystal and a couple of incomplete crystals around the periphery. Stands perfectly for display as photographed. These enargite crystals are brilliant.
