Epidote

Specimen # 100356
Mineral: Epidote
Location: Hashupi, Shigar Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, N.A., Pakistan
Size: 6.7 x 2.1 x 0.7 cm

Description

Super, sharp, lustrous, water-clear crystal of epidote. Some minor internal colour zoning. Complete at the upper side by the termination, the epidote is a bit more feathered, but this is not damage. There are some colourless micro crystals on this part of the crystal which I believe are fluorapatite, although I have not had them tested. There is virtually no damage – there is a small chipped edge about 3/4 of the way down on the right, and there are a couple of other tiny nicks under 1 mm visible with magnification – it is an incredibly high quality specimen for one of these, and particularly of this size. A great gem epidote!
