Epidote, Quartz

Specimen # 102578
Mineral: Epidote, Quartz
Location: Kharan District, Balochistan, Pakistan
Size: 3.6 x 3.0 x 2.0 cm

Description

Brilliant fans of sharp, lustrous epidote crystals on a base of quartz crystals. These epidote crystals are so lustrous they look wet. Under magnification, one can see that the quartz crystals also contain colourless very fine hair-like crystals of byssolite (the variety of an amphibole species in the tremolite-actinolite-ferro-actinolite series – quite possibly tremolite but can’t be confirmed without analysis). In excellent condition – no damage to any of the epidote fans, some minor incomplete epidote at the base, on the quartz. This is a beauty!
