Description

Detailed Description

This is a remarkable erythrite. It is a cabinet-sized piece, with a shallow cavity lined with deeply-coloured, sharp, lustrous erythrite crystals, to just under 1 cm. These erythrites are in fantastic condition. A few crystals at the periphery are not complete where this was attached to the rock, but even the peripheral edges are in unusually good condition for eyrthrite, and ortherwise it virtually pristine (searching with magnification I can find two tiny rubs). Stands on its own for display in more than one orientation. For the size of the specimen, the quality is nothing short of spectacular.

A superb display specimen of erythrite!

About these Erythrites

Erythrite crystals from Bou Azzer are generally regarded as the finest in the world. The challenge with erythrite, however, is to obtain fine-quality specimens – the mineral is so soft and delicate that most specimens are damaged in the removal process or subsequent transportation. The erythrites in this lot are superb quality specimens of this beautiful mineral.
