Ferberite, Arsenopyrite

Specimen # 100607
Mineral: Ferberite, Arsenopyrite
Location: Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
Size: 4.7 x 3.5 x 2.6 cm

Description

This specimen features a pair of sharp, lustrous, parallel-growth ferberite crystals hosting a sharp arsenopyrite crystal and two small muscovite crystal rosettes, all surrounded by sharp terminated quartz crystals. It’s not too often that we see such a nice aesthetic specimen (from any locality) which includes four minerals as well-developed, high-quality crystals. In excellent condition – no damage except at the base where it was removed from the host rock. The small notch at the tip of the larger ferberite appears to relate to interruption by quartz – with magnification you can see there is a small nick at that spot, but most of it is naturally crystallized.

This beautiful miniature is a Yaogangxian piece with true character.
