Fluorite

Specimen # 101871
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Fluorite, Nikolaevskiy Mine, Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
Size: 6.5 x 6.1 x 4.5 cm

Description

A particularly aesthetic display piece, this specimen features sharp, lustrous, transparent colourless fluorite crystals with pyrite and accented by quartz and calcite crystals. The fluorite crystals are most predominantly dodecahedral, with octahedral and cubic faces as well. In fact, with magnification I can find one instance of trapezohedral and tetrahexahedral forms (beside the corner of one of the largest cube faces). There is a nice rainbow-play of colour within one of the main crystals. In excellent condition, no damage. Stands perfectly as photographed – a gorgeous display specimen.
