Fluorite

Specimen # 102131
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Fluorite, Xiayang, Yongchun Co., Fujian, China
Size: 5.4 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm

Description

This is a beautiful group of delicately-coloured, transparent light blue fluorite crystals with purple tones. The purple hues are from internal zoning in the crystals. The crystals are sharp cuboctahedra with good lustre. In excellent condition, a small cleave on a small lower crystal (you have to look for it), and some peripheral contacting where this was attached.

The hue of these fluorite crystals varies depending on the light source – with LED lights they are a cold blue-purple, with halogen a warmer, more violet-purple hue, and in daylight colour temperature (shown) similar to the LED blue-purple colour.

A very classy display specimen of fluorite.
