Fluorite

Specimen # 102132
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Fluorite, Xiayang, Yongchun Co., Fujian, China
Size: 9.7 x 6.7 x 2.7 cm

Description

This is a great plate of sharp, lustrous, purple fluorite crystals from the 2017 find. These crystals are sharp cuboctahedra, with good transparency. In excellent condition (particularly for this find, a specimen of this size) – some incomplete crystals around the bottom and lower left-hand side, where this was attached.

The hue of these fluorite crystals varies depending on the light source – with LED lights they are a cold blue-purple, with halogen a warmer, more violet-purple hue, and in daylight colour temperature (shown) similar to the LED blue-purple colour.

This is a beautiful, colourful display specimen of fluorite.
