Fluorite

Specimen # 102133
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Fluorite, Xiayang, Yongchun Co., Fujian, China
Size: 8.0 x 6.3 x 3.6 cm

Description

A beautiful specimen of transparent purple-blue fluorite crystals associated with small glistening quartz crystals. These cuboctahedral fluorite crystals are colour-zoned, with a lighter hue closer to the surface, and an internal zone of darker purple. The fluorites are sharp with good lustre. In excellent condition, no damage to any of the main crystals, incomplete or contacted crystals closer to the periphery. Stands perfectly for display as photographed. The piece has been trimmed at the back with a saw.

The hue of these fluorite crystals varies depending on the light source – with LED lights they are a cold blue-purple, with halogen a warmer, more violet-purple hue, and in daylight colour temperature (shown) similar to the LED blue-purple colour.

This one looks great under the lights – the transparency of the fluorites is great, and the quartz crystals add sprakle.
