Fluorite

Specimen # 102135
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Fluorite, Xiayang, Yongchun Co., Fujian, China
Size: 4.8 x 4.8 x 4.2 cm

Description

A group of beautiful transparent cuboctahedral fluorite crystals. The crystals have colourless zones and purple-blue zones, so the specimen overall has a light-purple look. These are sharp crystals with good lustre and there are sparkling quartz crystals in association. In excellent condition – this one is quite three-dimensional over top of the matrix, so there are only a couple of peripheral crystals with any contact, and one is behind the specimen as displayed. One crystal has a chip on its face – from more than one optimal display angle, this is out of view. Stands perfectly for display in more than one orientation.

The hue of these fluorite crystals varies depending on the light source – with LED lights they are a cold blue-purple, with halogen a warmer, more violet-purple hue, and in daylight colour temperature (shown) similar to the LED blue-purple colour.

A very nice fluorite with such good crystal transparency – these are gemmy crystals (a word I do not use often in my descriptions).
