Fluorite

Specimen # 102139
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Fluorite, De'An Mine, Wushan, Jianxi, China
Size: 5.8 x 4.4 x 3.3 cm

Description

A good cluster of purple fluorite crystals – what makes this one special is apparent when you look more closely.  At first glance, it looks like deep purple octahedral crystals with a bit of white quartz – that is what comprises most of the piece. However, there are also a few small, light purple cubes, as a second generation of fluorite. In excellent condition. Stands perfectly for display as photographed.

As is often the case with fluorite, the hue varies with light source. Under LED and in daylight, it is a colder hue of purple, and under halogen it is a warmer, more violet hue.
