Fluorite

Specimen # 102330
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Fluorite, Cave-in-Rock, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA
Size: 6.6 x 6.0 x 4.6 cm

Description

A group of translucent fluorite crystals with nice internal colour zoning and phantoms. With lighting from the front or above, the specimen is purple, and with backlighting, one can see the colour variation including yellow and blue hues. In very good condition, the main crystals are excellent, and there are incomplete crystals around the edges, as is typical for these. There are small chalcopyrite crystals on and included inside the fluorite crystals. The backside crystal faces have beautiful growth hillocks, shown in the fifth image. A nice Illinois fluorite!
