Fluorite, Quartz

Specimen # 100759
Mineral: Fluorite, Quartz
Location: Riemvasmaak, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
Size: 8.3 x 6.0 x 2.9 cm

Description

This is a gorgeous piece, featuring a razor-sharp fluorite of beautiful green colour, measuring 2.3 cm on an edge. The specimen also hosts a group of small, sharp, transparent green fluorite octahedra at the lower right, giving the piece balance. The fluorites have excellent bright lustre.

In excellent condition. There is a tiny nick at the side of the top tip of the main crystal – small enough to the eye that it is only noticed if the piece is turned to reflect light off it. If you look very closely at the third photo, you can see that most of the glint at the top is internal and not the nick – the nick is at left. A couple of small incomplete peripheral crystals.

The fluorite crystals on this specimen just glow a wonderful green in the light – it is super!
