Fluorite

Specimen # 100706
Mineral: Fluorite
Location: Fluorite, Nikolaevskiy Mine, Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
Size: 8.4 x 5.7 x 5.3 cm

Description

This specimen hosts clusters of beautiful clear fluorite crystals up to 1.5 cm. This specimen is not only aesthetic, accented by platy blades of white calcite, but it is a particularly fine specimen of fluorite that is predominantly dodecahedral. Nice cabinet specimens of fluorite with this crystal shape/morphology have never been common. The crystals on this one actually combine the three classic forms, with small square-shaped faces of the cube, and small triangular faces of the octahedron accenting the corners of the dodecahedra. The fluorite crystals are transparent and colourless, very sharp.  In excellent condition – no damage, just contacts alon some edges where the piece was originally attached to the rock.  This one can be displayed really well in more than one orientation.

This is a gorgeous display piece of dodecahedral fluorite!
