Gmelinite

Specimen # 101154
Mineral: Gmelinite
Location: Gmelinite, Two Islands, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
Size: 6.4 x 3.8 x 1.3 cm

Description

This beautiful plate of sharp, lustrous pink gmelinite crystals to 1.7 cm was collected in 2011. The twinning of the crystals on this one really sets it apart – often the twinning is more subtle, but the two largest crystals on this piece show the twinning prominently. There are small very sharp colourless heulandites in association. In excellent condition – no damage, just a couple of incomplete crystals on the left edge at the periphery where the plate was attached. These are super twinned gmelinite crystals.
