Gmelinite

Specimen # 101477
Mineral: Gmelinite
Location: Gmelinite, Two Islands, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
Size: 2.6 x 2.1 x 1.0 cm

Description

This is a really good thumbnail-sized Two Islands gmelinite. The crystals are sharp and glassy – highly lustrous. They grew in a seam, against the surrounding basalt, so they are not fully developed at the back – they are as complete as the space in the seam allowed, and they look great from the front. In excellent condition, incomplete faces of the crystals at the outer edges where this was attached to the surrounding rock. The largest crystal is 1.4 cm. Truly striking from the display angle.
