Gmelinite, Heulandite

Specimen # 101150
Mineral: Gmelinite, Heulandite
Location: Gmelinite, Heulandite, Two Islands, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
Size: 2.8 x 2.5 x 0.9 cm

Description

This beautiful thumbnail-sized specimen features sharp, glassy gmelinite crystals up to 1.4 cm on a plate together with brilliant transparent crystals of pearly heulandite. The main gmelinite crystal on this specimen is textbook – just a wonderful crystal of this species. The gmelinite crystal faces exhibit the characteristic triangular step pattern. There are twinning features visible on two of the crystals (including the largest) yet they are subtle. In excellent condition – no damage, just a couple of small incomplete spots at the periphery where this was attached. A superb gmelinite.
