Description

Detailed Description

This is the nicest plate of grossular crystals I acquired from this find. It is covered with sharp, lustrous deep brown grossular crystals, accompanied by a few prehnite balls and small epidote crystals.

There are light-coloured needle-like inclusions, quite possibly of an amphibole group mineral, within these grossular crystals. In excellent condition, three missing grossulars and a couple of nicks. The specimen has been sawed across the back of the plate, to reduce the matrix.

An attractive cabinet specimen, with these highly lustrous grossular crystals.

About These Grossular Specimens

These were found in 2016 from a new Arrondissemant Diako locality, Diabe Sira. Unlike most garnets from the region, the specimens from this find are plates of crystals on matrix – they are very attractive.
