Gypsum var. Selenite on Halite

Specimen # 200729
Mineral: Gypsum var. Selenite on Halite
Location: Salinas de Otuma, Paracas, Pisco, Pisco Province, Ica Dept., Peru
Size: 10.7 x 10.2 x 6.7 cm

Description

An absolutely gorgeous specimen of golden selenite! A superb, water-clear twinned selenite crystal stands over clusters of smaller selenite blades, frosted with halite. The selenite crystals are sharp and lustrous. In superb condition for a selenite from this locality, this piece is from the Gerald Panneton collection. A magnificent selenite.

Please note: halite specimens do not do well in humid conditions, so if you live in a humid place without sustained air conditioning, the halite on this specimen may begin to deliquesce over time and this piece may not be for you. It is totally fine in dry or air-conditioned space up to approximately 70% relative humidity.
