Hematite

Specimen # 100615
Mineral: Hematite
Location: N'Chwaning II Mine, Kalahari Manganese Fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
Size: 5.7 x 5.0 x 4.3 cm

Description

This matrix specimen is loaded with sharp, complex metallic black hematite crystals. In fact this one is good from many different angles. It features two large crystals, one of which stands out obviously at the top, and the larger one is embedded lower down on the piece. Each of these crystals has a mirror-bright pinacoid face, with the pyramid faces are also quite bright. Most of the smaller crystals are mirror-bright. There are small colourless barite crystals in association.

In excellent condition, no damage.

There is a lot to see on this specimen – a great piece.
