Hematite

Specimen # 100616
Mineral: Hematite
Location: N'Chwaning II Mine, Kalahari Manganese Fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
Size: 3.5 x 3.5 x 2.2 cm

Description

This specimen features two absolutely brilliant silvery black hematite crystals. The lustre on these things is super bright – they have faces like mirrors. They are a bit less so around the back. The crystals are incredibly sharp and complex. In excellent condition – no damage (with magnification I can find one tiny corner rub, but I need magnification to see it – this specimen is that good). There is a contact area at the bottom where this pair was attached, it is visible as displayed, facing down and low on the piece. There are a couple of small patchy spots where the lustre is not as high – these are fully crystallized and natural, they are not damage. This is a remarkable hematite miniature.
